David Kimball

Founder and Principal Broker

David Kimball launched his real estate career in 1972, starting with investments in apartments and land with development potential. One of his early milestones was securing an option on the Old Miles Hotel, which he and a partner ultimately transformed into the renowned Peery Hotel. In 1974, David founded Proctor & Kimball, which he later restructured into Kimball Investment Company in 1976 after acquiring Proctor’s stake. His son, Victor Kimball, joined the company in 1977, further strengthening its legacy.

With decades of experience in commercial real estate, David has excelled in a wide range of areas, including land acquisitions, lease buy-outs, land assemblage, condominium conversions, and the development and management of diverse properties. His portfolio spans hotels, shopping centers, industrial parks, office buildings, residential subdivisions, and apartment complexes across Utah, Nevada, Texas, Idaho, Montana, and California.

David is also highly regarded for his expertise in historic property renovation. In 1985, he and a partner revitalized the once-dilapidated Peery Hotel into a prestigious boutique property, earning accolades from the Salt Lake City Arts Council and recognition as the “Most Miraculous Conversion” by Utah Holiday Magazine. He also renovated and continues to manage the historic Judge Building, which remains a prominent Class A office space in downtown Salt Lake City.

In addition to his renovation successes, David has developed and operated a variety of hotel franchises in Utah, including Marriott, Hilton, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Quality Inn, Choice, Travelodge, and Best Western. He has also managed independent hotels in iconic locations such as Zion National Park, Ojai, Arizona, and several properties in Utah, along with a resort beach property in Oceanside, CA.
